Sean is a scrum-half from Stirling County who has represented Scotland at under-18 and under-17 level. In 2009 he was part of the Stirling County team who won the National Youth Cup under-18 competition, and he also played for Caledonia Reds under-17 and under-18. In 2008 he was Lornshill Academy’s sportsman of the year.
He is now studying mechanical engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. His cousin and Stirling County colleague, Grant Gilchrist, captained Scotland in the under-19 win against Italy at Lasswade, Edinburgh, in March 2009.
