London Wasps 36 - 17 Glasgow Warriors

Friendly match played at Adams Park on Saturday August 28th 2010 | No comments

Ryan Wilson went over for Glasgow's second try
Glasgow Warriors went down 36-17 to a powerful London Wasps side at Adams Park on Saturday.

In their final pre-season friendly the young Warriors displayed plenty of fighting spirit but were eventually overpowered by a virtually full-strength Wasps team.

Glasgow's tries came from DTH van der Merwe and Ryan Wilson with Duncan Weir kicking a penalty and converting DTH's score. Ruaridh Jackson added the extras after Glasgow second try.

Sean Lineen said: "It was a game we needed. After last week against Sale we again played some good rugby and really got stuck into the contact but we have work to do at the set piece.

"We've worked hard on the contact area and saw the benefits of that tonight against a very physical team but it was disapointing not to get more from having them on the rack for the first 25 minutes."

With the two teams facing each other in this season's Heineken Cup the Warriors will be hoping they can make more of their opportunities when the real action starts.

Next Friday Glasgow will face Leinster at Firhill in the opening game of the 2010/2011 Magner League season.
