Zebre 7 - 31 Glasgow Warriors

GUINNESS PRO14 match played at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi on Saturday November 9th 2019 | No comments

Sharp work from George Horne put Glasgow ahead
Glasgow Warriors ran out comfortable bonus-point winners over Zebre in Parma this afternoon.

George Horne took a quick tap penalty and dived over for the opening score after 13 minutes, with Adam Hastings adding the conversion. Horne completed his double nine minutes later after he was set up by good work by Ratu Tagive and Fraser Brown.

Adam Hastings added a third try three minutes before the break to make it 19-0 at the break.

Warriors extended their lead six minutes into the second period as Ratu Tagive touched down to secure the bonus point, but the home side, despite losing Johan Meyer to a red card, fought back with a try from replacement Pierre Bruno just before the hour as Carlo Canna added the extras.

Glasgow were not finished yet and after some soccer skills from Tommy Seymour, Nick Frisby crossed over with three minutes remaining.

Ruaridh Jackson added the extras for a 31-7 win as attention turns to the start of the European campaign.

Glasgow head coach Dave Rennie was pleased with his side's control of the game in the first-half.

"I thought we were really good in the first half," he told glasgowwarriors.org.

"We were accurate and applied a lot of pressure and got rewarded on the scoreboard. We scored some really good tries in really difficult conditions."

Man of the Match Adam Hastings' kicking put Warriors in areas of the pitch where they could pressure Zebre.

"Adam was good, he controlled the game well and put us in the right part of the field. The field was incredibly heavy and made things difficult, but we did a good job," said Rennie.

Warriors dropped off in the second half - something that frustrated Rennie.

"I thought our discipline was average and we gave away too many penalties in the second-half. We couldn't get our game going.

"I think Zebre played better with 14 and we joined them not long after that which was frustrating.

"It was a good five points over here in Parma. It's not easy to play here and we're very happy to walk away with a bonus point win."
