Tommy Hayes is up for the fight

In an interview with David Ferguson in The Scotsman, Tommy Hayes has spoken about his desire to stay at Glasgow.

With around twenty players out of contract and the SRU making cuts in staff, a number of players could be released from the professional teams. "I'm hoping that no news is good news on the contract talks at the moment. I want to stay here, and I'm determined to fight for the stand-off jersey again with Calvin and Barry Irving."

"But I've been here that long that it means a lot to me now to win something. You always want to win, but I’m getting nearer the end of my career than the start, and I want my time in Glasgow to be something to be proud of, with something to show for it. This is a good quality squad, better than the results have shown, we all know that, and there's no doubt we should have achieved more than we have done."

"It's all about consistency, and that's what has let us down this season again. But it's changing and I have a feeling that with the players getting used to the new coach, and the coach being a year on, next season could be a special one for this team. I'm now enjoying my rugby again, and I'm determined to be part of that."
