Graeme Beveridge expects to be the target for some abuse in tonight's make-or-break Pro-Cup clash with Borders but the Warriors scrum-half reckons the more he gets slagged, the better it will be for the team.

He said: "Being a Borderer from Peebles, it always gives me an extra buzz when I play down there - and the atmosphere in this game will be even more electric than usual. They are a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd down there and I am bound to be the centre of a lot of attention. But the bottom line is that if I am playing well, they will give me a hard time - so the more they rib me, the better it will be for the Warriors."

Richie Dixon believes the match will be a much more accurate indication of the Warriors' current standing than last weekend's 45-33 victory over Edinburgh.

Dixon said: "That was terrific but you have to appreciate that it came at the end of a pretty bizarre week for everyone involved. Adrenalin was flowing after the changes to the coaching team and it was natural the guys were buzzing. Going down to Gala will be a more realistic test because off-field matters have had a chance to settle down and it will be very interesting to see how they respond. What pleased me most about last week was the willingness of players to take more responsibility and the atmosphere of unity in the squad.

The guys' heads were up and every one felt part of the group."

Ian McInroy has withdrawn from the Scottish Thistles squad for the Melrose Sevens tomorrow for personal reasons.
