Glasgow's player of the year, Glenn Metcalfe, has agreed to take on some part-time coaching duties at his old club, Glasgow Hawks.

He started his career in Scotland at Glasgow Accies before playing with the very successful Glasgow Hawks team of the late nineties. Glenn's involvement with Hawks will be dependent on his duties with Glasgow Warriors.

Glenn will assist the new Hawks head coach, Peter Wright and his assistant, former Wales internationalist Rob Ackerman, who will be in charge of the backs. Glasgow Hawks director John Roxburgh said: "We regard it as a major coup to have attracted such a high-profile trio to Glasgow Hawks.

"Rob is one of the most respected figures in rugby, and not purely in this country, while Glenn will provide his services whenever he can fit them around his activities with the Glasgow pro-team and Scotland. His presence will help us build bridges between the club and professional scene, and we hope all three will enjoy a long and fruitful spell with us."

Both Wright and Ackerman are former British Lions and with John Beattie already coaching at Glasgow Accies, there are now three Lions involved with rugby at Anniesland.
