Glasgow centre Andrew Henderson has been called into the Scotland team for Saturday's first test against South Africa as the only unforced change in the side named by Ian McGeechan.

"It was an opportunity to see him alongside (centre) Andy Craig," McGeechan told reporters on Thursday. "He's a good ball carrier, he's worked hard on his game, and his ability to find a bit of space will be valuable."

Gordon Bulloch will be playing for his country for the 50th time. Director of rugby Jim Telfer paid tribute to Bulloch's contribution to Scottish rugby.

"Considering he's quite a small player it's remarkable what he's achieved," Telfer told reporters. "He was a bit of a basher when he came into the side, but he uses his body better now and he plays more intelligently.

"I would think he has benefited from being a full-time rugby player as much as anything. He is a credit to his family, his background and is a good ambassador for Scottish rugby."

Scotland coach Ian McGeechan added: "These are great milestones in international rugby. Gordon has been mainstay of the front-row for a while now and we're delighted for him."

Gordon is looking forward to locking horns with South Africa again.

"South Africa is very special to me and is a great honour to reach this milestone against them," said the man named man of the match for his magnificent performance in the famous win over the Boks last year. "It's going to be a huge challenge to play the Springboks (in South Africa) and the game will be won or lost in the fight five.

"The pack decides whether you win or lose the game and the backs determine by how much," said Gordon.
