Glasgow Warriors Awards Dinner

Last season's player of the year winner Sean Lamont
This year's Glasgow Warriors Awards dinner will be held in the Glasgow Thistle Hotel on Sunday 17 April.

For the past five years the Glasgow and District Rugby Union has held a fund-raising dinner for the Glasgow Thistles Development Squad. The dinner has always proved to be highly successful, raising substantial funds in support of the young players who have been lucky enough to be selected for the Thistles.

A few years ago the format of the dinner was changed to a Glasgow Warriors Awards night to recognise and celebrate achievements within Glasgow district rugby. Many nominations have been registered, and more that 16 clubs have been recognised or had players nominated for awards. Over 600 guests attended last year's dinner, and all enjoyed a highly entertaining evening. This season we want to repeat and hopefully better that success.

This season's Thistles will be based at Limerick University, which has been chosen because of its superb facilities and location. It is regularly used by other sporting organisations such as the Ireland’s international rugby squad, Sale Sharks, Bath RFC, and Everton. Limerick is the home of Munster Rugby, regarded as one of the most successful professional rugby teams in Europe.

Glasgow Warriors hope you can support the dinner by taking a table or places and promoting the event to your friends and family. The dinner is a fun event, with guest speakers from the rugby community as well as having many current and past international players in attendance.

For an application form or to book please call the Glasgow Warriors Office on 0141-353 3468 or e-mail to glasgow@sru.org.uk.

Last year's dinner was excellent - so hope even more than 600 Glasgow supporters book up to support Glasgow's next generation of professional players!

Agreed, Vicki. It is a "must" for the diary. An evening of good food, good wine and good company.

The day after is a bit of a bummer, though.
