Eric Milligan is on the bench for Glasgow Warriors tonight
Today's Daily Record reports that Eric Milligan has landed a deal to go full-time with Glasgow Warriors.

Eric will be on the bench for tonight's Celtic League showdown with champions Ospreys at Old Anniesland, but the PE teacher's school have kept his job open for him.

The Glasgow Hawks skipper said the : "I will be on an 18-month contract with the Warriors and my bosses at St Columba's School in Kilmacolm have agreed to keep my post open until the end of that period.

"I can't thank them enough. It is a fantastic place to work and it is a great comfort to know I have something solid to go back to."

Warriors pack coach Shade Munro said: "Eric's versatlity will make him a valuable commodity for us. He is at home on either side of the front row and will also cover as hooker. With Scott Lawson likely to be absent on Scotland duties over the next couple of months, I am sure Eric will be given plenty of opportunities to prove whathe can do at this level."

Warriors head coach Hugh Campbell admitted he will be fielding a much stronger side than he had anticipated after Scotland chief Frank Hadden released several Six Nations hopefuls, including Jon Petrie, Graeme Morrison and Euan Murray.

Hugh said: "It is a far cry from a year ago when we had to operate with virtually an entire second-choice squad.

"The aim is to establish continuity and momentum after our Heineken Cup win over Bourgoin."

On the inclusion of Currie centre and Edinburgh apprentice Ben Cairns, Hugh said: "It will probably just be a one-off involvement. I am sure Edinburgh will want to keep him after the injury to Rob Dewey."

…and still nothing about it on the "official" SRU site or the "official" Glasgow Warriors site. Leaving Glasgow Hawks to announce it on their club site on the "official" SRU site!

All these newspaper outlets receiving the story yet the SRU can’t even put it about their "official avenues"?

Do the SRU really want to get fans through the gates by as least letting them know what the hells going on at their team?

..Nevertheless the official SRU site does have news that Craig Smith has signed a new deal with Edinburgh…

exactly. seems the sru are more interested in plugging more important issues like a new world record for the biggest human flag.

Quite boring to read that, .
I don't support Edingurgh, but sometimes, put a bit of support for Scotland, instead of critics against SRU, Edingurgh, and players like Scott MURRAY.
Scottish Rugby needs support everywhere!!!!!!!!!

Hugues I see where your coming from and my posting wasn't a Glasgow Vs. Edinburgh debate. It was simply put there as an example that why can one news item concerning a player from one pro side can be put on an official SRU channelling but news regarding another player from another SRU pro side can't?

The SRU need to get the message of news out on all three of the pro teams on their official website. At the moment there's an official website but not a lot of important news concerning the SRUs pro teams are finding their way onto that avenue.

Yet the newspapers, radio stations and TV channels are obviously being sent press releases from the SRU as it's being told on those places.

I'd suspect that the SRU official website was there to give people info on what's happening with their team but it's tottaly confusing as to why it's not being used for that!

Unfortunately that's the way the SRU are running pro rugby here in Scotland. THEY need to let the fans lknow what's happening with their own sides otherwise the fans that are there just now will be heading through the exit gates for good.

The SRU really need to start building a fan base for the pro three otherwise it's "lights down, curtains closing"...the way they are doing things at the moment they are dissolving what fan base is there already.

I was talking about the comment of"lazy boy Murray".
You must be right, i'm not close enough to talk about SRU management with the pro sides.
I hope there will be progress, and the crowds are poor enough so...
Just to be realistic, SRU provide the money for the 3 pro sides, and with crowds around 1000 people in Glasgow, it must be a nightmare with their financial resources.
There is an interview of JP about the last game.
At least he didn't complain about poor facilities and a real home pitch for the Warriors, etc...
He wasn't happy with the performance of the team, the players.
I hope Rugby in Glasgow can grow, with a fantastic people resource.
All my best to Scottish Rugby, hope to see them frighten the French in the 6 Nations

What are Glasgow doing, signing Milligan up at this late stage of the season, with the team under-performing its way to a European shield place? The way things are going, Hugh Campbell won't be there next season. He has been less than a roaring success, hasn't he?

Campbell's sccessor may not want Milligan, who hasn't exactly starred for the Hawks this season, so why give him a contract now? The Hawks pack has been asleep and that has been the main reason for their high profile stumble mid-season and exit from the cup at Currie last week. Milligan must bear responsibility for that.

Steady on McD as the great phone in man James Sanderson used to say to complaing punters"were you at the game?"
Red came good yesterday and led the troops to victory at Malleny .
Which brings me back to James when a punter responded to the question above by saying"he didnt make the match because he was getting married".The response came back "does that take all day?"

Steady on Shug! I WAS at the game! The Hawks "came good" for a short spell in the second half. Remember, this was the reigning champions and leaders of Premier One against one of the candidates for relegation. At the end of the first half, with Currie leading 7-0, it was not at all clear which team was which! Halfway into their sixth consecutive dodgy performance, there was nothing remotely professional about any of the Hawks players.
