Glasgow's Mike Adamson is preparing for the IRB Sevens World Series
Scotland sevens coach Stephen Gemmell insists his team's trip to Singapore later this month will be worthwhile preparation for the IRB World Series.

The 12-man squad will compete in an event featuring 30 international and representative sides from around the world on October 27 and 28.

Gemmell has selected seven of the players who were involved in last season's World Series for the journey to Singapore, where the Scotland team will go by the name of 'Rugby Ecosse'.

With the IRB series starting at the end of November in Dubai, Gemmell is eager to gauge the form of his players.

He said: "Our focus in Singapore will be not only on results but, more importantly, on team and player performances with all players having a chance to stake a claim for selection for the opening IRB tournaments in Dubai and George."

The Scots will continue to be captained by Scott Forrest.

Squad: Scott Forrest, Colin White (both Ayr/National Senior Academy), Calum Forrester (GHA/National Senior Academy), Stephen McColl (Dunfermline/National Senior Academy), Chris Fusaro (Heriot's/National Junior Academy), Mike Adamson (Glasgow Warriors/Glasgow Hawks), Chris Kinloch (Edinburgh Accies and National Senior Academy), James Thompson (Heriot's/National Senior Academy), Andy Dymock (Dundee HSFP/National Junior Academy), David Blair (Edinburgh Accies/National Senior Academy), Grant Anderson (Ayr/National Junior Academy), Ruaridh Jackson (Glasgow Hawks/National Senior Academy).
