24 teams from Glasgow and the west will compete at Whitecraigs
The annual Glasgow Warriors Fun Day and Touch Tournament returns on Sunday 27 July in partnership with Xscape Braehead.

Taking place at the Warriors’ training base at Whitecraigs RFC in Newton Mearns from 12noon until 5pm, 24 teams from Glasgow and the west will compete in the touch tournament with the Warriors even entering their own team.

The whole Glasgow squad will be there along with the famous Calcutta Cup that Scotland lifted during the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

Lots of fun activities are available throughout the day including: sports skills sessions, autograph hunts, player photo sessions, juggling workshops and activities from Xscape Braehead.

Refreshments will be also available throughout the day at the BBQ, ice-cream van and beer tent.

I assume that the Supporters Club Committee are doing the autograph hunt and probebly other things again this year and this is Glasgow warriors as usual claiming other people's work as their own again. It was great last year guys - the event was made by the supporters club!

Cheers Collette. The Supporters club will be out in force again doing the autograph hunt, face painting and lots of other stuff. We're not the only entertainment though this year, with the Warriors getting stuck in as well.
Come along and get involved. If you've not already sent in your membership form, you can do so on the day and get a hold of the new discounts and merchandise we've lined up for you.

I thought one of the aims of the supporters club was to work together with the team, management and sru?

The above comment from collette seriously smacks of the us and them attitude between those running the supporters club and the Glasgow team, management and sru.

Does that mean that the supporters club aren't really in it for the team and the fans but are in it for themselves and for any credit going?

Really not sure where you are getting this 'us and them' thing from. I don't think anyone who has been aware of the relationship we've built up and the joint work we've done during last season would agree. Have a look at the year end report submitted to the AGM and you'll see that I mention this there.

Specifically in relation to the fun day, while our activities last year were are add-ons to the main touch tournament, they proved to be really successful. Following on from that, this year the Warriors have invited us to join in again while adding in some other things they will be running themselves.

As regards your last comment, you are entitled to our opinion, but maybe you shouldn't judge others by your own standards, so I won't bother responding.

Just to confirm that if you wish to read the End of Season Reports they can be found on the supporters club website- look under documents on the main page. Click on AGM Minutes and they are at the end of the record of procedings.

I think last year Sean specifically thanked the supporters' club for the work they did. There weren't any other stalls etc and they made a big contribution.. they worked hard for the team. I wouldn't give them my support otherwise. Will you be at this year's event, little-bo-peep?....

I suspect there was a breakdown in communications last year - if you remember there was the move to Firhill, the Borders had been disbanded and no-one knew whether there would be an Edinburgh team. The SRU were possibly a little distracted and relations seem to be very good now. The players & coaching staff are certainly a very friendly bunch, especially in the bar after the match.

By the way, I didn't know we could purchase 08/09 memberships yet. Worth posting on the Forum?
