Andy Henderson to join Montauban

Andy Henderson is joining Montauban after nine seasons with Glasgow
Glasgow's longest serving player Andrew Henderson is moving to French club Montauban after agreeing a three year contract.

A popular figure with Glasgow supporters Andy will leave after nine seasons with the team.

"My Glasgow contract is up at end of season," he explained in The Scotsman, "and I have always wanted the challenge of playing somewhere else some time in my career, so last summer I thought if things didn't go my way this season I'd think about trying that now.

"I feel very lucky to have played professional rugby for my home team for nine seasons, and I've always been very proud to represent Glasgow, but if I'm going to leave I don't want to go when I'm at the very end. I want to go when I still have some good rugby in me and can make a good impression there, and my hope is that a change of club and coaching, and a different lifestyle, might give me what I need to get back to my best and back into the Scotland team."

Andy's wife Anna, recently gave birth to their second child, a girl Hope, and along with 19-month-old Jamie they will head to France this summer. "I'm hoping to be back from my hand injury in two or three weeks and I want to help Glasgow finish the season well, and play well as a thank-you to the club and the supporters."

All the best for Andy's family.
I'm sure they are going to enjoy the French life style.
After a season on dry pitches, hope Andy will be back in the Scottish squad.

for so long a deserved fixture in the Warriors team, always gets over the gain line and a defensive rock. Sad to see him go and wish him all the best.

Been an excellent player for Glasgow over the years. Seemed to lose his way a bit this season so hopefully a change of scene will rejuvenate him for Scotland. Thanks for all your efforts & enjoy France!!

Always felt Andy was a bit under-rated and not appreciated as much as he should be. Was good at staying on his feet, providing a target, for others to get round; and on occasions played beautifully to go past the first tackler. I also felt he had tried in recent years to offload slightly more aggresively, going for more ambitious passes rather than just going to ground, and that occasionally that didn't come off and he got unjust criticism for losing possession. A long time in the Glasgow shirt, very few poor games, many very solid games, a real Glasgow legend in my book. Thanks.

Parks should get on the same plane as Muffles, and head over to France. DP still has a lot to offer, and will be appreciated over there.

I blame lineen to be honest, I think the amount of times henderson has been rarely/unused this season has been criminal. Albeit he has had a few injuries - think if he had been made to feel more involved he may have stayed. Dewey is an ok player - would rather have someone who has been so loyal over the years than someone who moved at first chance of big pay day to Ulster!

Andy is going to play with a centre Glasgow was chasing some years ago, the player is Rida JAOUHER.
