Ayr see off the Titans

Gordie Reid went over for Ayr's second try
Ayr opened Scotland's account in the British & Irish Cup with a 28-13 win over Rotherham Titans at Millbrae.

Tries from Glasgow pro Pat MacArthur and another from big prop Gordon Reid plus 18 points from the boot of Frazier Climo gave Ayr a well deserved win in front of a very healthy crowd.

Glasgow props Ed Kalman and Hamish Mitchell played their part in a great win for the Millbrae men.

Ayr take a break from the British & Irish Cup - their next fixture in the competition is against Birmingham & Solihull at Millbrae on February 13.

Glasgow's Dave McCall went over for a try for Heriot's but the men from Goldenacre went down 57-12 to Coventry.

I was pretty depressed when I saw the first set of resluts from this competition, but it looks like Ayr might have had the kick they needed to improve.

This result is great for their confidence, and shows they can compete. Well done lads!

I wonder what effect it will have on their performance in the league...?
