Andy Henderson to play for GHA

Andy Henderson in action for Glasgow in Challenge Vaquerin
Former Glasgow Warriors centre Andy Henderson will play club rugby with GHA next season.

The former Scotland international was with Glasgow for eight seasons before moving to France to play for Montauban. After the French club's financial difficulties he played for a short spell with Newcastle Falcons.

He'll team up at Braidholm with former Glasgow forwards coach Gordon MacPherson who will be in charge for season 2010/2011.

Andy - who previously played club rugby with West Of Scotland and Glasgow Hawks - is the latest former Glasgow and Scotland player to return to the club ranks - Gordon Bulloch (West Of Scotland), Alan Bulloch (GHA) and Rory Kerr (Glasgow Hawks, West Of Scotland, Strathendrick) are just three examples from recent times.

Enjoy Club Rugby Andy!
He had been a great servant for the Warriors!

What an absolute waste of his talents. Muffles was always a deeply misunderstood player - especially by Hadden. Hnederson has one of the best short offloading games I have ever seen but Hadden made the players outside Andy run away from him rather than at his shoulder, in the 2008 Six Nations a Scotland player ran and Muffles's shoulder two times in the entire championship and we score two tries. Andy took a lot of criticism from "fans" who didn't have the slightest clue how modern attacking and defensive system worked -the real low light was when I saw Andy receive a kick with no-one in support, side step the first following up play, hand off the second then ride a two man tackle to one hand offload the ball to Beattie who knocked it on - the supporter in front of me unleashed a torrent of abuse and Henderson for being slow. I had words.

And, of course, in defence he was simply, sensationally, brilliant.

All that said - I hope he really enjoys his remaining time playing rugby.

I was thinking of Andy's time at the club the other day when all of those exiting Warriors were named in the starting line up for the last home game. Andy who was one of Glasgows longest serving players was not even named in the squad for his last game (when Glasgow were playing for nothing tangible) - I lost all/ any respect I had for Lineen at that point. Obviously there was an issue there but Lineen couldn't put that to the side for the player or supporters.
