The Warriors have signed Newcastle Falcons lock Tim Swinson on a two-year deal, but it’s understood that won't impact on Rob's hopes of a new contract, due to the fact Richie Gray is moving to Sale Sharks at the end of the campaign.
However, with Alastair Kellock, Richie Gray and Tom Ryder ahead of him in the queue, Robs’s game time has been limited to periods when international tournaments are in play.
Rob has started the last two Warriors matches, and formed an good partnership with Tom Ryder. He says he wants to use the visit of RaboDirect Pro12 leaders Leinster, a trip to Ospreys and the arrival of Italian side Aironi to impress head coach Sean Lineen.
Rob told the Evening Times: “I have really enjoyed my season with Glasgow and hopefully the best is still to come, but I know this is the crucial stage for me.
“Sean has spoken to me and I know that if I want a new deal in the summer, which I am very keen to nail down, then I have got to step up to the plate right now. I feel like in the first two games during the Six Nations period against the Scarlets and then last week at Connacht I have done relatively well and formed a good partnership with Tom Ryder.
“It has also been great for me to train with Big Al and Richie and now it is about using all I have learned and putting it all together in this window.
“So,starting with Leinster on Saturday night, I guess these are the biggest three games of my pro rugby career.”
