Fraser Lyle grabs his chance

Fraser Lyle could make his first start at Scotstoun
Fraser Lyle made a try-scoring debut in last week's big win in Parma and looks set to continue at centre against Ospreys at Scotstoun tomorrow afternoon.

All this comes just four months after Fraser gave up on his career in real estate to join up full-time with Glasgow.

Fraser takes up the story in the Evening Times: "I'm from Stirling originally, went to university in Aberdeen and played a bit for the uni there and for Aberdeen Grammar before going to play in Canada for two summers with the Calvary Hornets.

"I then came back to play for Stirling, and that's when I got into Glasgow. Had I thought about playing professional rugby? Perhaps not all the way through university. When I came back from Canada I went into a job as an estate agent.

"I trained with Glasgow a couple of times the previous season and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I didn't think anything of it, though. I didn't want to get my hopes up. I was an estate agent for 10 months. But every day here is a novelty!"

With so many of Glasgow regulars away on international duty with Scotland for the Six Nations there's a big opportunity for players on the fringes to make their mark.

Fraser said: "I was told when I came in to Glasgow to target this period over the Six Nations because we lose a lot of guys.

"The game against Zebre had been my focus for the whole month leading up to it. I had been working hard to perform as best as I could on that day.

"Now that is out of the way, I'm purely looking at tomorrow and not beyond it. I don't even know if I'm playing and I'll take it day by day."
