The former Newcastle Falcons and Harlequins stand-off aid he jumped at the opportunity to join the PRO12 champions, after speaking to Gregor Townsend and his former teammate Mike Blair.
Rory told Warriors HQ: "I finished the season at Newcastle and headed over to Australia to play for a team called the West Harbour Pirates, to get a bit of rugby under my belt.
"I played a couple of games for them and then got a call from Gregor (Townsend) and after the season the club had last year I jumped at the opportunity to come up and spend three months here during the Rugby World Cup.
"Mike (Blair) spoke to me when I was speaking to Gregor about coming up here and he said nothing but good things about the place.
"He's only been here a few weeks but he was extremely positive and he's obviously a great player.
"It was definitely a pulling factor coming to the champions and I feel privileged to be here. It's a very successful club and I'm just glad to be a part of it."
Rory believes he'll fit in well with the style of rugby the Warriors like to play.
He added: "I've been given the opportunity, so if I can get my foot in the door and play a couple of games and play well we'll see what happens.
"Gregor (Townsend) has a nice attacking game and they scored some really good tries last year and play expansive rugby.
"It's definitely a game plan I think I can have an influence with and bring positive things to the team."
