Warriors unveil their new kit

Glasgow Warriors have unveiled their new playing kit for the 2016/2017 season.

The Warriors will play on a new artificial pitch at Scotstoun Stadium next season wearing a new and iconic Macron home and alternate kit.

Both shirts come with a new fabric technology which is lighter in weight, maximises core body breathability and fits tight to the player’s body.

The shorts have a new hand-dry system on the hip, allowing the players to combat the impact of rain and wind on performance.

Both kits combine technical superiority and fashionable Italian design, the trademarks of Macron.

The home jersey – the “Centurions” kit - is jet black with its flank panelling, in sky-blue writing, paying homage to those who have had the honour to wear the club’s colours 100 times or more. A total of 28 names, ranging from current Warriors to past club legends, adorn the shirt as a tribute to their efforts in making the club into what it is today.

The alternate jersey is white with its flanks edged with white, sky blue and black pinstripes, is a tribute to the all white shirts and shorts worn by the Glasgow District sides prior to the professional era. The front of the jersey features a tone on tone image of the club logo, with the club’s heritage badge of “GDRU” (Glasgow District Rugby Union) once again prominent on the rear.

On the chest of both shirts, the Macron logo and club badge both feature. Each shirt has a sky blue three-needle cover stitch and a subtle polo shirt collar, with one of the club’s mottos, “Whatever It Takes”, included under the collar.

Glasgow Warriors managing director Nathan Bombrys said: “Macron have once again produced an outstanding kit for us, which celebrates the heritage of our club, and we look forward to seeing the team wearing it in front of a packed Scotstoun.

"The shirts incorporate elements of our past, present and future, and provide a real sense of our club culture and values.”

Both jerseys are available in the ‘players body fit’ style as well as supporter’s ‘slim fit’, and will be followed by a full collection of training, travel and accessory items, allowing Glasgow Warriors supporters to wear their club colours with pride.

The players will wear the new alternate kit for the first time this Saturday when they play Harlequins at The Stoop in London (ko 4.00pm) – live on Warriors TV.

Supporters will be able to get their hands on the new kit at the pre-season friendly against Canada 'A' at Bridgehaugh in Stirling on Tuesday 30 August (ko7.35pm).
