Scott Cummings has been named as the 2021 recipient of the Sir Willie Purves Quaich
Glasgow Warriors second-rower Scott Cummings has been named as the 2021 recipient of the Sir Willie Purves Quaich.

Presented by Friends of Scottish Rugby, the award recognises the outstanding Young Scottish Player of the 2020/21 season.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a remarkable run of form in a Scotland jersey, making 20 consecutive appearances for Gregor Townsend's side since making his debut in the summer of 2019.

Only a hand injury sustained against Ireland in this year's Guinness Six Nations put an end to that run, following a campaign that saw Cummings impress fans and pundits alike with his dynamism around the field.

A former Scotland U20 captain, he has made 78 appearances in a Glasgow jersey to date, most recently in the 15-12 victory over Leinster at Scotstoun in the final match of the 2021 Guinness Rainbow Cup.

He becomes the 15th Warrior to receive the award, with Matt Fagerson the most recent Glasgow winner back in 2018.
