Warriors confirm players leaving

Grant Stewart is leaving Warriors at the end of the season
It's been confirmed a total of seven players will be moving on from Glasgow Warriors at the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign.

Those departing the club at the end of the season will bring the total number of players leaving the club to 10, with Nick Grigg and Murray McCallum having left during the course of the campaign in addition to the retirement of Peter Horne.

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Danny Wilson paid tribute to those moving on, saying: "Each player leaving has applied themselves, worked hard and been passionate about playing for Glasgow Warriors.

"We wish our leavers all the best and would like to thank them for what they have done as Warriors - their contributions both on and off the field cannot be underestimated.

"We're looking forward to finishing the season together and, when the time is right, celebrating all they have given to the jersey."

Glasgow Warriors 2021/22 leavers

Hamish Bain | Warrior #315

Second-rower Bain will say his farewells to Scotstoun after two years with the Warriors, having initially put pen to paper ahead of the 2020/21 campaign following a spell at Stade Nicois.

The former Portobello man has made seven appearances for the club, as well as representing Boroughmuir Bears in the FOSROC Super6.

Robbie Fergusson | Warrior #250

Scotland 7s star Fergusson moves on from Glasgow Warriors at the end of his third spell with the club, having re-joined the Scotstoun outfit in November 2021 after excelling with Team GB at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The centre - who also coaches Ayr RFC - has made 15 appearances for the club to date, most recently in the 40-12 victory over Zebre Parma at Scotstoun at the start of April.

Robert Harley | Warrior #188

31-year-old Harley brings the curtain down on his career at Glasgow Warriors with his place in club history already firmly assured, after an exemplary time in the colours of his hometown club.

No player has made more appearances in a Glasgow Warriors jersey than the former West Of Scotland man, who ran out for the 264th time in Pretoria on Friday night.

Scorer of the opening try in the 2015 Guinness PRO12 Final victory over Munster, Harley was also the first player to reach 50 appearances for the club in the Heineken Champions Cup, as well as a two-time recipient of the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season award.

Tom Lambert | Warrior #327

FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy prop Lambert leaves the club a year after signing his first professional contract in order to pursue another playing opportunity overseas.

The loose-head made five appearances during the 2021 Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup, but saw his progress hampered this season due to an ankle injury sustained back in October.

Kiran McDonald | Warrior #289

Glasgow-born second-rower McDonald's summer move to Wasps was confirmed earlier in 2022, with the 27-year-old having developed into a powerful operator in the engine room during his time at Scotstoun.

The second-rower, who is also equally adept on the blindside flank, made his 50th appearance for the club in the victory over Zebre Parma last month and has scored two tries for the Warriors to date.

A former Air Cadet, he was called into the Scotland squad for the first time ahead of the subsequently-cancelled 2021 summer tour.

Ewan McQuillin | Warrior #310

Tight-head prop McQuillin initially linked up with Glasgow Warriors in February 2020, making his debut against the Dragons in the club's final home match before the COVID-19 enforced suspension of rugby.

The former Scotland Club XV cap has gone on to make a further three appearances for the Warriors, including two during the course of the 2021/22 campaign.

Grant Stewart | Warrior #295

Scotland international hooker Stewart leaves the club following 47 appearances in Glasgow colours, having played an instrumental role in his side's run to the 2019 Guinness PRO14 Final at Celtic Park.

Having made his professional debut against Leinster in January 2018, the former Dalziel man's form in that run to the final - in which he crossed for a late try in front of over 47,000 spectators - saw him rewarded with a senior international debut against France at BT Murrayfield in August 2019.

The try was one of nine during Stewart's time at Scotstoun, with his most recent outing coming against Zebre Parma last month.
