Dave learned his rugby at Merchiston Castle School and won international under-19 recognition with selection in Scotland’s squad for the 1998 FIRA world junior championship in France. However, he played in only one game, being injured in the opening match against Chile. He took two years out from rugby, but while studying marine biology and zoology at Aberdeen University he played two seasons with Aberdeen Grammar.
He also had a season of club rugby in New Zealand, and after his return to Scotland his performances for Aberdeen Grammar last season earned him the offer of a professional contract.
Dave's appearances were limited last season but in his last few games he showed some good form and will be looking to establish himself this term.
