Ben had been called up to the Glasgow squad a number of times over the past few seasons before securing a full-time deal. Ben made 13 appearances as front-row cover over the previous four seasons.
His first season with Glasgow was blighted with a shoulder injury picked up in a pre-season game at Ayr.
In season 2006/7 a calf injury restricted Ben to a couple of appearances, though he did get more game time in a loan spell with English National One team Waterloo.
Tripoli-born Ben has represented Scottish Universities and Scottish Students, and has worked as a journalist.
