Last month Viewpoint requested some proof that new Glasgow winger Thom Evans really was a former member of a boy band.

Yes, we saw numerous photos - most of Thom with his shirt off - but we wondered if Twen2y 4 Se7en did produce any actual music. Well, here we are - we've tracked down a video of the band performing a song called Hide with Thom on bass guitar.

So is rugby's gain music's loss? Judge for yourself....

Ricky Munday of Glasgow Hawks certainly likes setting himself some stiff challenges in aid of good causes.

You'd think after taking on the The Sahara Marathon - "the toughest footrace on earth" - he'd be wanting to put his feet up for a few years. Apparently not, and this time Ricky literally has a mountain - or three - to climb. We'll let Ricky explain:

I've organised a 2-man expedition to climb a mountain in Krygyzstan called Khan Tengri (6,995m/ 22,949ft). The expedition will last 3 weeks in August/September and it seemed like a good excuse to raise funds for Maggie's Cancer Centres on the back of my climb. It's a serious climb (not a trek- up to Grade IV for the climbers amongst you!) and in order to save costs we're not going on a commercial expedition, but travelling independently to Krygyzstan. At 6,995m it's a big mountain and I hope to use it as a stepping stone to climb an 8,000m peak next year followed by Mount Everest in 2008.

We should hear something soon about the future of Scotland's professional rugby teams and, in particular, the future of Glasgow Warriors.

Hopefully, we'll still be playing in Glasgow and scoring tries like these ones from Graeme Morrison (voted 'Try of the Year' by the Scottish Professional Rugby Players Association) and Craig Hamilton.

We were surprised and disappointed to learn about the withdrawal of Channel XV from the SRU website.

Rugby in Scotland receives little or no TV coverage. Channel XV - fronted by Ron Evans, a man with a real knowledge of the game in Scotland - provided news and views on the pro-teams and club game that weren't available anywhere else. Interestingly, Canadian Rugby News (sponsored by Guinness) provide video coverage of rugby in the country, including the recent Churchill Cup. Channel XV was an excellent resource. Surely similar support to that offered by Guinness in Canada is available here.
