The event started off with a Magners reception followed by a Question of Sport quiz – “Players vs Supporters” which was hosted by our very own Sue Barker (aka Michael) where the players (James Eddie, Ed Kalman, Colin Shaw and Ruaridh Jackson) won 28 – 22. A wonderful buffet followed and special thanks goes to Lorraine, Caroline, Carolyn’s mum, Brian for his fish, Campbell for his pies and especially to Ash for all her hard work.
Finally, it was down to business with the Charity Auction. Hosted by Michael McEwan, we had over 40 lots and managed to raise a phenomenal amount with items including a signed Canada shirt (by Kevin Tkachuk), a framed photograph of Jason White & Jon Petrie (donated by Caledonian Brewery) and a Trip for 2 to an away game in Ireland (donated by Magners) which went for an amazing £335 (well done Vicki!).
Carolyn Armstrong, GWSC Chairperson, said “on behalf of the Committee, I would like to thank Michael for agreeing to host the quiz and the auction, the players for taking part in the quiz (even if they did win!), Magners for providing the Magners reception, to everyone who donated items and most of all, the Supporters for helping us raise so much money. This was for a very worthwhile cause and I’m sure Yorkhill will be delighted.”
A specific mention to be made to Michael for hosting the quiz and auction and to Carolyn for putting together a very entertaining quiz.
