March 21, 2026Glasgow Warriors 38 - 17 LeinsterUnited Rugby Championship match played at Scotstoun on Saturday March 21st 2026 | No comments
![]() Macenzzie Duncan went over for Glasgow's first try Glasgow Warriors reinforced their position at the top of the URC with an impressive bonus-point win Leinster at Scotstoun. Franco Smith's side now hold an eight-point advantage at the summit, helped by Ulster's defeat to Connacht earlier in the weekend. Leinster struck first, with Reiko Ioane pouncing on loose ball inside his own 22 before releasing winger Joshua Kenny to sprint clear and open the scoring. Glasgow response was emphatic - aided by Leinster's ill-discipline when they were reduced to 13 men - a period the Warriors punished ruthlessly with four tries to secure the bonus point before the break. With Brian Deeny in the sin bin, a lovely pass from Euan Ferrie put Maccenzie Duncan over from a tap-and-go close to the line, marking his first professional deal with a try. Moments later, Ronan Kelleher was shown yellow for a high tackle on Stafford McDowall. Glasgow took full advantage. Gregor Hiddleston crossed from a dominant driving maul, before George Horne finished a sharp counter attack sparked by midfield breaks from McDowall and debutant Johnny Ventisei. The standout moment came from Kyle Rowe, who produced a sensational solo try from deep. Collecting the ball near his own 22, he surged past Jimmy O'Brien, chipped ahead, regathered, and showed brilliant composure to beat the final defender in the corner. Leinster did manage a response before half-time, with Hugo Keenan finishing off a well-worked move following a driving maul, but Glasgow went into the break firmly in control. The second half was more subdued, but Glasgow delivered the decisive blow when Ollie Smith broke free of multiple tackles to score and effectively seal the contest. Leinster continued to battle and gave themselves a chance of a losing bonus point through Ciaran Frawley, who forced his way over late on. However, Glasgow had the final word - Josh McKay slicing through the defence before setting up Horne for his second try and the Warriors' sixth of the night. A late flashpoint saw Adam Hastings and Rabah Slimani both sent to the sin bin after a scuffle, with Hastings - soon to depart for Montpellier - receiving a warm ovation from the Scotstoun crowd. This was another statement performance in what is shaping up to be a superb season for Glasgow under Franco Smith. Even with several players rested after Scotland duty, the squad's depth and consistency were evident, as they came out on top over a Leinster side packed with international quality.
