January 18, 2026Glasgow Warriors 28 - 3 SaracensChampions Cup match played at Scotstoun on Sunday January 18th 2026 | No comments
![]() Dan Lancaster impressed again for Glasgow Glasgow Warriors maintained their perfect Investec Champions Cup record with an impressive victory over Saracens, booking a home last-16 clash with the Bulls in the process. A scintillating first-half performance saw Franco Smith's side surge into a 21-3 lead, with Ollie Smith, Kyle Steyn and George Horne all touching down as the Warriors' attack cut loose at Scotstoun. Saracens enjoyed extended spells of possession after the break, but a ferocious Glasgow defence stood firm, repeatedly repelling the English side's advances. The bonus point was secured in dramatic fashion at the death, substitute Seb Stephen powering over with the final play of the match to complete a flawless pool stage campaign. Four wins from four delivered a maximum 20 points and confirmed home advantage through to a potential semi-final. With a top-two seeding on the line, Scotstoun buzzed with anticipation, and it took less than 10 minutes for Glasgow Warriors to ignite a noisy home crowd. Alex Craig sparked the opening score with a clever dummy inside his own half before surging into space. Although he was hauled down, the momentum continued through a thunderous carry from Zander Fagerson, and when the ball was eventually shifted wide, slick handling from Sione Tuipulotu and Dan Lancaster sent Ollie Smith slicing through a gap to open the scoring. Saracens were forced into scrambling defence, with Lucio Cinti producing a crucial interception close to his own line to deny Huw Jones from a well-worked line-out move. Warriors remained firmly on top and after a brilliant chip-and-chase from George Horne, Juan Martín Gonzalez was sent to the sin-bin for cynically halting the attack just metres from his own line. Despite heroic resistance from the visitors' tryline defence, Glasgow eventually made the pressure count. A clever inside ball from Horne sent Kyle Steyn cutting a superb line to crash over under the posts. The one-way traffic continued, and Jack Dempsey burst through two tackles before releasing Horne, who raced clear to score on his landmark 150th appearance for the club. Saracens finally found some traction late in the half, with Elliot Daly driving them to the brink of the Glasgow tryline, but a massive defensive effort ensured Warriors carried an 18-point advantage into the interval. The visitors returned with renewed intent after the break, but Glasgow's defensive resolve remained unshaken, even after Kyle Rowe was shown a yellow card for a high tackle on Rotimi Segun. A scintillating break from Steyn again put Warriors on the front foot, with Smith diving for the line in search of a fourth try, only for the ball to be dislodged as he attempted to ground it. The bonus point was finally secured with the last play of the match, substitute Seb Stephen finishing off a powerful rolling maul to send Scotstoun into raptures and round off a dominant European display.
