January 10, 2026ASM Clermont Auvergne 21 - 33 Glasgow WarriorsChampions Cup match played at Stade Marcel-Michelin on Saturday January 10th 2026 | No comments
![]() Jack Dempsey went over for Glasgow's fourth try Glasgow Warriors maintained their perfect Champions Cup record with a bonus-point win over Clermont Auvergne at Stade Marcel Michelin this afternoon. The result means Warriors have secured qualification for the last 16 with a game in hand but they had to work hard for the win after their commanding first-half lead was put under late pressure from the hosts. Glasgow dominated the opening period, scoring four tries to take a 26-7 advantage into the break. Euan Ferrie opened the scoring from a rolling maul - set up by a Kyle Steyn lineout catch - after sustained pressure, before Huw Jones marked his return from injury with a try after breaking through the Clermont midfield. Jones was again involved as Glasgow extended their lead, chipping ahead for Kyle Rowe, who passed inside for Kyle Steyn to score under the posts. Clermont responded through George Moala, but Jones and Rowe combined once more to send Jack Dempsey over and secure the bonus point before half-time. Clermont threatened a comeback early in the second half when Glasgow were reduced to 13 men - Patrick Schickerling and George Horne were sin-binned - and conceded a penalty try before Irae Simone finished a counter-attack to cut the deficit to five points. Glasgow missed chances to extend their lead when Dan Lancaster and Matt Fagerson were held up over the line, and the former was off target with a penalty. The decisive score came when substitute Max Williamson and Seb Stephen made ground in midfield before Steyn crossed for his second try of the match. Clermont pressed late on, but Glasgow held firm to record their third bonus-point win of the pool stage. Glasgow host Saracens at Scotstoun next weekend with a great chance to secure home advantage in the knock out stages. Speaking to Premier Sports, Glasgow skipper and player-of-the-match Kyle Steyn said: "We've just got a really good group that's been together for a number of years now and we are just really keen to play for each other. The atmosphere was unbelievable. "We were obviously very nervous (in the second half) and you don't want that, but we had a clear plan of what we had to do if something like that (two yellow cards) happened. "Saracens are a really good outfit, they thrive in their rugby in Europe. It will be a good challenge."
