Munster 20 - 26 Glasgow Warriors

United Rugby Championship match played at Thomond Park on Saturday September 26th 2026 | No comments

Jamie Dobie marked his 100th game for Glasgow with two tries
Glasgow Warriors started the new URC season in style with a bonus point win over old rivals Munster at Thomond Park this evening.

The hosts held a 17-7 advantage at the interval after tries from Ben O'Connor and Michael Milne, with Jamie Dobie crossing for Glasgow on his 100th appearance for the club.

JJ Hanrahan opened the scoring from the tee before Glasgow were reduced to 14 men, Ollie Smith shown yellow for a deliberate knock-on.

Munster immediately capitalised on their numerical advantage, a well-worked move across the backline creating the opportunity for O'Connor to cross in the corner.

Glasgow responded through Dobie, the scrum-half marking his century of appearances by darting over from close range.

Munster restored their 10-point advantage before the interval, however, prop Milne powering over following a sustained spell of possession from the hosts.

Franco Smith's side emerged with renewed purpose after the break, with the Glasgow replacements making an immediate impact.

A powerful carry from Seb Stephen put the Warriors on the front foot, before fellow replacement Nathan McBeth drove over for Glasgow's second try.

Hanrahan added a further three points for Munster, but it would prove to be the home side's only score of the second half as Glasgow continued to build pressure.

Dobie was once again at the heart of the action, taking Glasgow to within metres of the Munster line before George Horne spotted his opportunity and sniped over for the Warriors' third try.

The scrum-half then converted his own score from out wide, putting Glasgow in front for the first time in the match.

With Munster searching for a response, the Warriors struck again in the closing stages.

Dobie capped his milestone appearance in style, racing into the corner for his second try of the evening and securing the bonus point for Smith's side.

The result sees Glasgow begin their new URC campaign with five points on the road, ahead of next weekend's first home match of the season against Ulster.
