Glasgow's Jon Petrie starts at openside in the Scotland team to face Japan in their opening World Cup match.

Gordon Bulloch is named among the substitutes. Glenn Metcalfe, Andy Henderson and Graeme Beveridge miss out on selection but are likely to get a chance in other pool games.
