Cammy Mather is in the frame to replace Andrew Mower in the Scotland World Cup squad.
Cammy Mather is one of four players put on stand-by to replace Andrew Mower in the Scotland World Cup squad.

The Newcastle flanker suffered a serious knee injury in training yesterday.

"It would be a fantastic opportunity and I'd be delighted to get out there and be part of the squad again," said cammy. "I have had a phone call from Ian McGeechan, who has told me I'm one of four players being considered, but it was in the early hours of Thursday in Australia and so they're waiting until morning to discuss the situation with the captain Bryan Redpath before deciding who goes.

"It would be great for whoever they choose, but I know I have the ability to compete at international level again and I'd love the chance to prove it."

Glasgow's Gordon Bulloch is expected to captain Scotland against the USA on Monday.
