Cardiff Blues have been dealt yet another injury blow after full-back Nick Macleod was ruled out for two months with a serious back problem.

Macleod was examined by medics yesterday and diagnosed with bulging discs that will prevent him playing until the end of November.

The news has deepened the Blues' growing injury gloom in their three-quarters, with six players now on the casualty list ahead of the Blues hectic-looking Powergen Cup, Celtic League and Heineken Cup schedule.

Coach Dai Young is already without four centres in Tristan Davies, Jamie Robinson, Marc Stcherbina and Tom Shanklin, while scrum-half Dean Dewdney had surgery on his groin this week.

It means Young will now have to rethink his plans for the Celtic League clash with Glasgow at Hughenden on Saturday night.

Possibilities are either of promising youngsters Matthew Nuthall or Jamie Roberts in line to replace Macleod at full-back.

J.Robinson makes his return at centre with Rhys Williams moving to his preferred position at fullback.
