Carlin Isles is included in a strong Glasgow squad
The Warriors are sending a strong squad to this weekend's Melrose Sevens.

James Eddie, Lee Jones, Mark Bennett, Finlay Gillies and Scott Wight will all be involved after representing Scotland 7s in Hong Kong last month.

The squad will be captained by Scott Wight, who was born in Melrose and previously won the tournament with his hometown club in 2011.

Scott said: “The Melrose 7s is a special event and I’m excited about returning to the Greenyards as captain of the Warriors.

“The squad have trained well this week and we’re all looking forward to the tournament getting underway tomorrow.”

Every player selected for Glasgow has previously taken part in the IRB Sevens World Series, with Carlin Isles and Nikola Matawalu both included in the 10-man squad that will be coached by Kenny Murray.

After appearing for Ayr in Hawick last month, Carlin will be returning to the Borders to represent the Warriors for the first time. He has played in 15 tournaments for USA 7s, but this will be his first appearance in Melrose.

Niko has played in five tournaments for Fiji 7s and has made 41 appearances for the Warriors to date. Like Carlin, this will be the first time he's played at the Melrose 7s.

Another American named in a Glasgow squad with sevens experience is Folau Niua, who has recently returned to Scotland after helping USA qualify for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Rory Hughes and Fraser Brown are also included. Rory made his debut for Glasgow earlier this season against Connacht and Brown has made 13 appearances for the club.

Kenny Murray said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the club and it’s a real honour to be invited to play at this year’s Melrose 7s.

“We have named a strong squad and we’re looking forward to playing in front of more than 10,000 supporters at the Greenyards.

Melrose is renowned for being at the core of rugby 7s, so it’s a real privilege to coach the Glasgow Warriors team at this year’s tournament.”

Glasgow Warriors are also in action against Munster in the RaboDirect PRO12 tomorrow night in Limerick and on 3 & 4 May their home ground, Scotstoun Stadium will host the
