Scotland U20 get started with big win

Johnny Ventisei showed up well in the one-sided win over Samoa
Scotland scored 19 tries to overwhelm Samoa 123-15 in the opening match of their World Rugby U20 Trophy campaign at The Hive this afternoon.

The scoreline set a tournament-record tally, overtaking Japan's 105-20 success against Hong Kong China just a few hours earlier.

Scotland's tries came from Finlay Doyle (3), Robbie Deans, Ollie Blyth-Lafferty, Johnny Ventisei, Ryan Burke, Jack Hocking, Andrew McLean, Callum Norrie, Conor McAlpine, Ruaraidh Hart, Gavin Parry, Fergus Watson (3), Liam McConnell, Jerry Blyth-Lafferty (2) and Totoa Auvaa (2).

Andrew McLean kicked 12 conversions with Jack Hocking and Conor McAlpine adding one each.

Scotland take on Hong Kong China on Sunday and complete Group A against Japan on Friday 12 July.
