Scotland scored 19 tries to overwhelm Samoa 123-15 in the opening match of their World Rugby U20 Trophy campaign at The Hive this afternoon.

The scoreline set a tournament-record tally, overtaking Japan's 105-20 success against Hong Kong China just a few hours earlier.

Scotland's tries came from Finlay Doyle (3), Robbie Deans, Ollie Blyth-Lafferty, Johnny Ventisei, Ryan Burke, Jack Hocking, Andrew McLean, Callum Norrie, Conor McAlpine, Ruaraidh Hart, Gavin Parry, Fergus Watson (3), Liam McConnell, Jerry Blyth-Lafferty (2) and Totoa Auvaa (2).
