Sold-out Scotstoun set for Sunday showdown with Saracens

Rory Darge says the Glasgow squad are well aware of the possibilities and the the challenge this evening's game presents
Sunday matches at Scotstoun don't happen very often but it hasn't stopped the Glasgow supporeters turning out in force for this evening's Champions Cup clash with Saracens.

A sold-out Scotstoun provides the backdrop for the final match in Pool 1, with both sides arriving in Glasgow with clear objectives still very much on the line.

Qualification for the round of 16 is already secured for Glasgow Warriors, but Franco Smith's squad have their sights set firmly on a bigger reward. A victory over Saracens would lock in a top-two seeding, handing the Warriors home country advantage for as long as their knockout campaign lasts - right up to a potential semi-final.

Back-row forward Rory Darge admits it's a powerful motivator.

"We all know it's there," Darge told the media ahead of Sunday's match. "We've spoken about it and it's definitely something you want to aim for."

Scotstoun has been a fortress so far this season, with Glasgow unbeaten in all competitions on home soil, six wins from six. But Darge is under no illusions about the size of the challenge awaiting, especially against a Saracens side who reignited their European campaign with victory over Toulouse last weekend.

"Being at home is an advantage but we know that Saracens are coming and they can play well away from home and they can bring that intensity," said Darge. "Being at home doesn't obviously win the game for you. You have to go and perform as well as you can.

"I think that message of growing that growth mindset collectively as a squad week on week has helped us with that because it keeps you on task.

"I think it's about improving week on week regardless of who you're playing. I think that helps you keep yourself grounded within that expectation. We know that we've played well in those first three pool games and sit in a good position now.

"But ultimately we need to go and win this one and we know how difficult that's going to be. Saracens are a great side, they showed that last week. So for us to win we're going to have to be at our best."
