Despite grinding out a hard-fought bonus-point victory, Glasgow Rory Darge admitted his side had plenty of room for improvement after a testing encounter with Zebre, whose physicality and intensity pushed the Warriors all the way.
"We knew it was going to be tough. Zebre are really difficult to play against, they target the breakdown, they have got a good team with a strong attack. We knew we were going to have to be at our best to get a result tonight," Darge said.
"Even with that, there was a lot we could have done better. Thinking of a couple of moments when we went down the front of the lineout and then coughed the ball up, there was an overthrown lineout.
"Just being more clinical in those moments, it might not have come down to the wire in the way it did. But we were fully aware of the threat Zebre carried and I don't think we were at our best today, but we knew we were going to have to work hard to get a result."
A bonus-point win was secured despite an underwhelming display, leaving Glasgow sitting pretty in the URC and Europe and eyeing up the possibility of a season run-in to remember.
"Ultimately, we've done alright: we did well in Europe, finished top of the pool and with the results today we are top of the URC," Darge said.
"They are great positives and you have to take the positives in rugby because a lot of teams have come here and been beaten in the past. There are obviously lows that come and go so to be top of the URC, to have got home advantage in Europe, it's a good place to be in."
