Kyle Steyn wants Warriors to use their week off to reset before the URC resumes
Glasgow Warriors emerged as one of the standout surprises of this year's Champions Cup pool stage, before their impressive run was halted by a disappointing home quarter-final loss to Toulon.

With the semi-finals this weekend, captain Kyle Steyn says the team must use the break to reset before the URC resumes.

After conceding 14 tries in two South Africa games and losing top spot in the URC, Glasgow now face crucial matches against Cardiff and Ulster to secure a top-two finish and home play-off advantage.

Steyn admitted the squad are "gutted" not to reach the last four but stressed perspective: "I think you've got to take the positives from it," he said.

Reflecting on their campaign, he added: "When you reflect on this campaign and the European campaign, the amount of hard work that's gone in from players, that's gone in from staff to put us in the position we were in. First and foremost, we just really gutted that we didn't get ahead the way we did.

"But then, I think it was the first moment to look and find the positives and find where we can get better."

After defeat to the Stormers, Steyn pointed to key issues: "Stormers did play well. They capitalised on our errors, they capitalised on our ill discipline.

"We couldn't get our set-piece going and we couldn't get anything back there. That's on us as a playing group. You can't build any rhythm or build any momentum into the game.

"Every time we got something going, we just coughed it up too easily.

"That's on us as a playing group to make sure now that going forward, we've got two more league games, we've got one more game at home, to make sure that we really tighten the screw there.

"We've got a couple of days to get our bodies over that [travelling home] and then we've got a real chance at the back end of next week to put in some really hard work before we go into a Friday game.

"We'll definitely be looking, focusing on the positives and looking for the opportunities where we can work hard, get better and make sure that we fine-tune and dial in our focus ahead of Cardiff at home."
