The Australian back arrived in Glasgow this summer after spending the past four seasons with the Western Force, having previously represented the Brumbies.
Capable of operating across the back-line, the 28-year-old admits that the opportunity to join the Warriors initially came as something of a surprise, but it was one he was keen to grasp.
"Initially they came to me and it kind of caught me a bit off guard. I was looking elsewhere and I was looking for something new," Kuenzle told glasgowwarriors.org.
"I just went to my manager to see if there was anything out there, and he said that the Warriors were keen.
"Obviously, from the outside looking in at the Warriors, they're a classy side and a successful team. To be a part of that was a big driving force for me.
"Obviously, they're the best in the world in some instances with the way they play rugby, and there are also a lot of Scottish internationals in there. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me and, obviously, a great opportunity to learn off those boys.
Kuenzle's versatility was highlighted when his move to Glasgow was announced, with the Australian having featured at fly-half, centre and across the back-three during his career to date.
After his first taste of training with his new team-mates, he believes the freedom within Glasgow's attacking system is ideally suited to his game.
"Speaking to Nigel, obviously being in the backs, I've played pretty much every position. They really like the fact that I'm versatile.
"He said it doesn't matter what number's on your back, you can pop up anywhere, and I think that suits my style of rugby.
"Watching them play a couple of games now, and obviously training with them at the moment, you can see that it's quite easy to pick up. You can pretty much put yourself anywhere and, yeah, that suits my game quite well.
Kuenzle has also quickly become accustomed to the standards demanded by Head Coach Franco Smith.
Having seen the Warriors challenge at the business end of both the BKT United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup in recent seasons, the new arrival says Smith's determination to find those small improvements has already been a recurring theme of pre-season.
"It's pretty good, to be fair. It's easy to be aligned. You know what he wants and I think it's pretty easy to follow.
"Obviously, they've been really successful since he's been in charge the last four years. Obviously, they didn’t get the chocolates at the end of the year, and he keeps harping on that.
"It's just a little one per cent here and there. Just hearing that throughout the pre-season, he's always bringing it up. It's always at the forefront of their mind that you've got to keep working hard.
"It doesn't matter how successful you are, if you're not there right at the end, you're not going to get the win.
"It's quite good and it's quite motivational, to be fair. It keeps everyone honest and it's good.
Life off the field has also started positively for Kuenzle, with a familiar accent amongst the Warriors squad helping the Australian settle into his new surroundings.
Fellow Australian Sam Talakai was amongst the first to welcome the new arrival, whilst Charlie Savala has also helped Kuenzle acclimatise to life in Glasgow.
"It's been really good so far. Initially, Sam Talakai reached out when I first got in and we had a coffee pretty much the first day.
"He was really nice and kind. Him and his partner and his kids met with my partner as well, which was great. I felt like Sammy really helped me settle, which was really nice.
"Obviously, all the boys have been great. Charlie Savala, I know of him from back home, and he's made me feel welcome. He lives in a similar vicinity to me, so he's pretty close by.
"But, to be fair, it's like any other rugby group. You all share the same goals and you get on pretty well straight away.
"You've got to talk to each other, you've got to communicate on the rugby field, and then it just flows on to outside of the pitch. So that's been quite easy for me.
With his first northern hemisphere campaign on the horizon, Kuenzle has his sights set firmly on helping the Warriors challenge for silverware.
Yet the move also represents a new experience away from rugby, with the Australian looking forward to embracing everything that comes with living and playing in Europe.
"Obviously, the main goal is to win the URC Championship. That'd be great to be a part of.
"Obviously, they came close this year and they won it a couple of years back. It would be unreal to be a part of something like that.
"But also, being over here in the northern hemisphere is a first for me. To be able to travel and experience life in the northern hemisphere, travel Europe and do all that is an awesome opportunity for me.
"You don't get that very often and that's the beauty about rugby. You can play anywhere and get given opportunities to do this.
"I'm truly grateful for that. Obviously, I'm going to make the most of the opportunity."
