Dobie marks century in style at Thomond Park

Jamie Dobie went over for two tries in his 100th game for Warriors
Jamie Dobie admitted it felt "pretty surreal" to become a Glasgow Warriors centurion, after marking his 100th appearance with two tries in victory over Munster at Thomond Park.

The Scotland international reached the landmark seven years after making his professional debut, with his family amongst those in attendance in Limerick to watch the occasion.

For the 25-year-old, reaching three figures in Glasgow colours was a moment to savour.

"Yeah, feels pretty surreal," Dobie told Premier Sports' Ryan Wilson after the match.

"Yeah, seven years have just passed just like that. Hundred games.

"But yeah, absolutely love this club and I'm really proud to reach that milestone."

There was also a sense of symmetry to the setting for Dobie's century.

The scrum-half lined up on the wing for his 100th appearance, the same position in which he made his first Glasgow start at Thomond Park earlier in his Warriors career.

"Yeah, there definitely is," Dobie said of the rivalry between the two sides.

"There's been some good battles over the years.

"Funny, I made my first start on the wing for Glasgow here at Thomond Park a few years ago. So to be back and make a hundred on the wing again, something feels right about that.

"So, yeah, awesome place to do it. Credit to their fans, it creates an awesome atmosphere. It's one of the best away days you get."

The milestone man also played his part in a second-half turnaround from Franco Smith's squad.

Having trailed at the interval, the Warriors found greater accuracy after the restart to turn the contest in their favour.

"Yeah, as you say, we struggled a little bit in the first half," said Dobie.

"We were just a little bit off with some of our detail and some of our skills.

"But we felt we were creating lots of chances and maybe just not taking them. So we knew they were going to come in the second half, and it was just about executing a little bit better."

Glasgow's confidence was underlined late in the contest when the Warriors opted to kick to the corner in pursuit of another score and a bonus point.

For Dobie, the decision reflected the belief developed within the squad in recent seasons.

"And, as you say, big call there to go to the corner," he said.

"But that's what we've built over the last four or five years, is that confidence in our pack and in our team to be able to call game and go to the corner there.

"So, yeah, delighted to pick up that win."

Dobie also revealed there was little confusion amongst those on the field as Glasgow managed the closing moments of the contest.

"I think all 15 of us on the pitch at that point knew what was going on there!" he said.

"I think maybe just eking a couple of extra seconds there.

"But yeah, awesome way to finish the game and awesome way to turn that game around and to start the season, to be honest."
