The Warriors trained on the newly-installed pitch for the first time on Monday, as preparations continue for Saturday's BKT United Rugby Championship home opener against Ulster.
The new surface replaces the previous artificial pitch at Scotstoun, with Forrest admitting that the squad immediately noticed a difference.
"Yesterday was the first time we trained on it, so, yes, it's different," said the Assistant Coach in The Offside Line.
"It's not quite the same feeling as the 'car park' was. It's definitely softer and a little different.
"But you look at all the pitches that the boys are used to playing on. We played Newcastle on a new 3G in pre-season, then last season going to Ulster, theirs is relatively new.
"No, it's good. I think it'll be a little bit better for the boys' bodies, just being that little bit more forgiving in terms of the surface."
The Warriors will continue to familiarise themselves with the new pitch throughout the week, with the forwards amongst those getting their first experience of the surface in training.
"We'll train on it fully this week," said Forrest.
"The forwards just scrummed on it there, and it's definitely different to what the previous one was, but not bad, just different.
"I think they're saying it'll just take a bit of getting used to."
Glasgow have built a strong home record at Scotstoun in recent seasons, and Forrest believes the change of surface will not alter the importance of home advantage for Franco Smith's squad.
"[Maintaining the strong home record] will be so important in terms of what we want to achieve this season," he said.
"It's a new pitch but I don't think it's really going to change much about teams coming to Scotstoun.
"The atmosphere, the fans and the support that we get are a huge part of that home advantage."
Forrest also believes the new pitch can complement the style of rugby the Warriors are looking to produce in 2026/27.
"We don't see it changing with that new pitch going down and the way we want to play.
"We want high ball-in-play. We want high metres per minute. We want a real intensity around both sides of the ball.
"That pitch is going to help that. I think it's a positive for the Warriors brand of rugby."
The new surface will host its first competitive fixture when Ulster visit Scotstoun on Saturday, with the Warriors looking to build on their opening-round bonus-point victory over Munster.
