Speaking to Premier Sport ahead of this evening's game with Ulster, The 25-year-old joked that Jamie Dobie reaching a century of appearances against Munster the previous weekend had taken some of the spotlight away from his own landmark.
"I think Dobie showed me up with 100 last week, so it's taken me a little bit longer," laughed Brown.
"But I'll blame that on injuries and maybe some drops in form here and there."
The forward had family in attendance at Scotstoun to mark the occasion, with his parents making the trip to watch him reach the half-century.
"Mum and Dad have come down," he said.
"I think they're just finishing watching my brother now and then they'll head across."
Brown also underlined the importance of Glasgow building early momentum after opening their campaign with victory over Munster.
"It's quite surprising to hear," he said after being told Glasgow had not won their opening two league matches since 2018.
"Obviously momentum is huge in any tournament, and it was great to get a win away last week in Munster.
"We know Ulster will be pretty disappointed with their performance last week, so they'll be raring to go here.
"It's important, first home game of the season, we kind of keep our home record going."
Brown has moved back into the second row this season after spending time at number eight with Scotland during the summer, but believes the switch does little to alter what is expected of him.
"I do like ball carrying. I think it's probably one of the stronger parts of my game.
"After starting at eight against Fiji in the summer there, I think Matt was trying to remind me that I am a second-row six and that he has been an eight for four or five years before he was a six!
"I don't think much changes for me, second row, six. I think it still allows me to get my hands on the ball."
