Warriors started brightly, with Matthew Urwin pulling the strings at stand-off and Bayley Kuenzle prominent on his first outing in Glasgow colours, whilst Fergus Watson, Guy Rogers and Callum Reidy all threatened with ball in hand.

Bath's experience and clinical edge told as the half progressed, however, with Santiago Carreras, Joe Cokanasiga, Bernard van der Linde and Ollie Lawrence crossing to give the visitors a 22-0 advantage at the interval.

The English outfit extended their lead after the restart, with Cam Redpath amongst those to cross as Bath made the most of their opportunities.

Glasgow continued to play positively despite the scoreboard, with Kerr Yule providing a powerful carrying threat following his introduction from the bench.

Their persistence was rewarded when Kuenzle's lovely miss-pass released Alex Bryden, the Scotland U20 international racing over in the corner for the Warriors' only try of the evening.

Bath added a late score to complete a 53-5 victory, as Glasgow's young squad gained another valuable opportunity to test themselves ahead of the start of the BKT United Rugby Championship.

Franco Smith's squad will now turn their attention to next weekend's URC opener away to Munster at Thomond Park.

Despite the final scoreline, Smith stressed that the result was not the focus of the evening.

"I think we've won one of the warm-up games since I've been at the club," said Smith.

"We almost lost to the Ayrshire Bulls in the first year. So the result has got nothing to do with it.

"We leaked two or three or maybe four tries. That I thought we could be a little bit better in.

"I spoke to the boys half-time about that and said 'let's just keep on believing'. We did so well."

Bath's physicality provided a stern examination for the young Warriors, with Smith believing the experience will prove valuable as his squad prepares for the competitive action to come.

"We did expect them to be as physical as they were, and I think that was the main lesson," he said.

"I think the three objectives we had was to be brave, to be physical and to show the effort, and I thought we've seen that.

"There was not a tactical issue tonight. We were just men against... I want to call them young men. That is what we want from these two games. I'm excited because we want to measure ourselves against the best.

"It's easy to explain to the boys in a Monday morning meeting. This is going to be tough and it's going to be hard, and remember, these guys are top in the Premiership. They've been consistent in Europe and played in the semi-finals, quarter-finals last year. They're a good side, it's going to be physical.

"So if they get that experience, then that's fantastic.

"We started with the technical stuff years ago and if you put them amongst the senior players, you wouldn't notice a difference."
