In an article in The Scotsman, Glasgow assistant coach Steve Anderson has denied a report that he is to leave Glasgow to take up a role with the SRU.

The Australian, who joined Glasgow along with head coach Kiwi Searancke in the summer, is in line for a more expansive role within Scottish rugby, but yesterday he said: "I'm not going anywhere right now. I've got a two-year contract with Glasgow which I intend to honour. I have had a very informal discussion with Ian McGeechan and Jim Telfer, but it was very much long-term.

"They know about my background with academy systems and youth development and I’d be very enthusiastic about offering my experience to help develop those areas of the Scottish game. But we talked more about the 2007 World Cup and how we might develop talents who could be key players then."

McGeechan concurred, adding: "There is nothing in place regarding moving Steve from Glasgow. "I've been reviewing things for some time. I want to make the best use of all our coaches. I'm looking at setting up training groups of Scotland players in the districts, for instance, and using our professional coaches to work on international programmes, but it's a long-term thing."
