Beveridge after Redpath's Scotland place

Glasgow scrum-half, Graeme Beveridge believes the Heineken Cup clash with Sale can help him dislodge Bryan Redpath from the Scotland side.

The Warriors take on the Sharks in a crucial meeting on Saturday and Beveridge will be in direct opposition to Redpath. Beveridge wants to take advantage of the outing to show watching national selectors he has the edge on their current skipper. The Six Nations Championship kicks off in just a few weeks with a home clash with Celtic rivals Ireland at Murrayfield on Sunday, February 16.

In an Evening Times interview Graeme commented: "If I was playing week in, week out I am sure they would pick me and find another captain. The way they (the Scotland coaches) look at it is that he is the best scrum half and he is also a very good captain.

"I just have to make myself better so they don't feel that Bryan has to be in there at scrum-half. He is the man with the jersey at the moment, so if I want to prove that I should be in the Scotland jersey there is no better time to do it than when I am playing directly against him. It is a huge incentive."

Warriors need to beat the Zurich Premiership's second-placed side to stand any chance of progressing to the knockout stages in Europe.
