The Glasgow hooker played in the shock defeat against Italy in their very first match in the competition in Rome back in 2000. And he said: "Our loss against England was down to ball retention. For all the good work we are doing it is being undone with simple errors."
"Until we cut these out, then I'm afraid when we play the best teams in the world the scoreline will be 40-9 every time. England hardly make any mistakes at all. Then, when they do, they are good at covering them up. It is frustrating. Although we can take positives from the game we have still got a lot to work on going into the final match against Italy."
Simon Webster has had to withdraw from the Scotland squad after being concussed when he came off second best in a challenge with a tackle bag. He has not been replaced in the squad as James McLaren looks likely to recover from a shoulder injury in time for the Italy game. Webster will face a statutory three-week lay-off which will rule him out of Edinburgh's game with Glasgow at Hughenden on 4 April (ko 7.30pm).
