Glasgow may have had a disappointing season but Metcalfe has been in fine form for both club and country and seems certain to be on the plane to Australia for the World Cup later in the year.
"I am thrilled and honoured to receive this accolade and it is definitely one of the highlights of my career." said Metcalfe.
Over 600 people packed into the Moat House to hear speeches from Allan Hosie, John Beattie and new Glasgow coach, Sean Lineen. Lineen spoke impressively of his hopes for the future of Glasgow Warriors and the importance of the district's clubs. The event itself was a great success and raised a huge amount of money for the Glasgow Thistles tour to New Zealand.
Every speaker highlighted the importance of the tour to the development of young Glasgow players. The event highlighted the great things going on in Glasgow District and it's clear that the appointment of Hugh Campbell, Sean Lineen and Shade Munro has brought a genuine optimism about the future of Glasgow Warriors.
