Andy Nicol has explained how he turned down the chance to coach Murrayfield Wanderers before he accepted the position at Currie.

Nicol said: "It was always my intention to go into coaching at this level and aim to work my way up the ladder. I'm very excited at the prospect of working with the players and everyone connected with the Currie club."

In addition to spearheading Currie's title bid, Nicol is also setting up a company specialising in trips abroad for Scotland fans to follow their heroes.

He said: "It wasn't a case of me playing Murrayfield off against Currie in the hope of obtaining the best deal. When Currie made their proposals I immediately told Wanderers the state of play, thanked them for their interest and informed them I would not be taking up their offer."
