Glasgow's Roland Reid weighed in with 14 tries as the Scottish Thistles won the Heineken Amsterdam Sevens title today.

The Scots swept through to the quarter-finals scoring a total of 55 tries and not conceding a single point. They defeated defending champions Castricum Wailers in the quarter-final and overcame Backstabbers in a tight semi-final.

In the final the Thistles defeated Corso Marauders 36-31 to lift the silverware, their opponents drawing heavily from the Fijian sevens expertise within the British Army. said: "The final itself was right up there with anything I've encountered in IRB World Series tournaments." Reid's display will be some consolation to him after being left out of the Scotland squad that will play the Barbarians and tour South Africa.

Glasgow target, Sean Lamont of Rotherham, played his part in the victory.
