Gordon Bulloch looks set to win his 50th cap for Scotland in the first test against South Africa next weekend. His previous meetings with the South Africans have brought mixed fortunes.

Gordon will be hoping for a different result than he experienced in his Scotland debut against the South Africans at Murrayfield in 1997. The Glasgow hooker was part of the side that were beaten 68-10.

More recently, Gordon was part of the Scotland team that secured Scotland's first victory over one of the Southern Hemisphere big three for 20 years. He was named man of the match as Scotland defeated South Africa 21-6 at Murrayfield.

Scotland have made a promising start to the Cardiff Sevens at the Arms Park Stadium. They drew 12-12 with Australia in the first of their pool matches. Glasgow's Roland Reid ran for a try from 50 metres only for Australia to come back to lead 12-5. A try and conversion by Conan Sharman gave Scotland a well-earned draw to confirm coach Rob Moffat's assertion that his side have improved this season.
