Campbell looks ahead to Cardiff clash

Hugh Campbell wants to get Glasgow's season back on track
Hugh Campbell hopes to get Glasgow's bid for a place in next season's Heineken Cup back on track against Cardiff Blues.

"We can't wait to come to Cardiff," said Campbell. "Our objective is to get ahead of the Borders by the end of the Celtic League tournament in order to secure a Heineken Cup place for next season.

"We were off the pace in sharpness against the Ospreys and we will certainly have to pick that up and improve against the Blues. We were around even in terms of possession but they used the ball better than us.

Campbell added: "The Blues were most impressive against Edinburgh. They are a big, physical side. We will have to be a lot better than we were against the Ospreys if we are going to compete at the Arms Park on Friday.

"The Welsh regions now have very strong back-up to cope with the losses of their international players.

"We have played really well at times – we were outstanding against Saracens in the Parker Pen Challenge Cup – but then we took a couple of steps back in the game against the Ospreys.

"If we get it right we can compete with virtually anyone – but we have to do that on a regular basis. We have the potential to perform and play well but lack of consistency is our problem at the moment.

"It is difficult for a lot of teams when their international players go and you are bringing in players who have not been with you for a while and trying to get them up to speed.

"But it is a fact of life and something we have to live with."
