Scottish Rugby today announced the creation of a new position of Director of Professional Rugby.

The new position will replace the existing three pro-team Chief Executive Officer positions and will be principally responsible for the success of franchising professional rugby in Scotland and delivering targets for the three Scottish professional teams in the forthcoming season.

Scottish Rugby Chief Executive Phil Anderton said: "We have to create and deliver efficiency in the short term with the three existing C.E.O.s being replaced by one new position. In addition, the proposed franchising of the professional game in Scotland demands a focussed and concerted effort to develop and sell the franchise model to prospective franchisees."

Applications for the Director of Professional Rugby position are welcomed from Scottish Rugby staff and external candidates. Further details will be available on the Scottish Rugby website www.scottishrugby.org
